Mike Shewokis Meeting Notes

Notes from the September Membership Meeting:

The Membership voted to allocate funds to repair the ponds outlet structure, the work is scheduled for Monday 9/15-Tuesday 9/16 (unless its raining) work will start at 8:00 am and therefore the dam and rifle range will be closed for those days, sorry for the short notice.

There was some confusion about the need for resident bird stamp for pheasant hunting on the club grounds. The Private Hunting Preserve status exempts those with back tags from needing a resident bird stamp, HOWEVER, Newtons Property is leased private land and is not covered under the exemption. So, if your color group is scheduled for Newtons,  you WILL need the resident bird stamp. If you got your back tags at the meeting last night and did not stay for the meeting, this is you notification. If you hunt pheasants on Tyler Mill or Town of Wallingford Permit required Areas, you will need a resident bird stamp.

The Fall Outing will be on Saturday Oct 4th rain date Oct. 5th. Tickets will be available at the trap field on Sunday.  Tickets are $25, I don't have the menu yet, but I know for a fact that fried dough is back this year!  Volunteers are needed; I will post the menu when I get that info. The Trap Championship will be held at 9am prior to the outing, open to members only, you must have your dues paid to take part, While I'm on the subject, there will be a Trap League starting Oct.7th $60 sign up at trap field.

The Pig Roast to benefit the Kids Fishing Derby will be held on Oct 19th starts at 12:00 pm tickets are $40 see Fred Coster, John Stevens or Domenic Masella. they will be serving grilled tuna as well.

Leo's Annual Game Dinner will be on Dec. 6th, Happy Hour from 4:00pm-5:00pm Dinner starts at 5:00pm tickets are $55.00 only 80 tickets will be sold. More details to come.

Grounds will be looking for help throughout the fall to get the club grounds mowed and leaves picked up, Domenic Masella is at the club most days, or call him at 203-915-6543 and make arrangements,

Sporting Clays is looking for Trappers and Safety Officers on 9/20 for the Boy Scout Shoot and 9/28 for the Conn. Waterfowl Assoc. shoot, Contact Joe Conte if you can help 203-273-3266. The Rifle Range and Archery Range will be CLOSED on these shoot dates

Nancy Handley reports there are a few openings on the trap work teams, a need for safety officers see her Sundays at the Trap Field.

It's never too early to start getting your work hours done, above are a few opportunities.

Thanks,

Mike Shewokis
