Bird Stocking Guidelines and Responsibilities
- Each Color Group is responsible for picking up and stocking the birds in their assigned area during the hunting season.
- The early groups can pick up birds any time since the shed will not be locked; remember ... hunting starts at 8:00 AM and ends at 10:00 AM. Mid Day groups can pick up birds anytime after 9:30...hunting starts at 11:00 AM and ends at 1:00.Afternoon groups can pick up birds anytime after 12:30 PM. Afternoon hunting starts at 2:00 PM and ends at 4:00 PM. These pick up times will allow sufficient time to travel to the hunting areas and stock birds prior to the start times.
- The person or persons from each group picking up the birds will sign for the birds on the Sign Out Sheet attached to the inside of the bird shed door. Sign the sheet in the appropriate time block for your assigned area.
- Each Color Group is responsible for returning the empty crate to the bird shed at the completion of the days hunt.
- Birds will be returned to the main pen if a crate is not picked up by 9:00 AM for the morning hunt, 12:00 PM for the Mid Day Hunt and by 2:30 PM for the afternoon hunt.
- Inclement Weather Days (Rain or Snow)
In the event of heavy rain or snow, past history has shown that some people do not show up to hunt. For those of your group that will hunt during these days, please determine the number of hunters and only take sufficient birds for people that will hunt. For example, DO NOT take a full crate if only two people will hunt. The number of birds to be stocked is two (2) per hunter. The returned birds will be used to supplement future hunting days by either increasing the number of birds per group or by extending the season. - Remember, when stocking, the birds do not fly well with wet wings.
All other hunting is subject to 2009 HUNTING AND TRAPPING FIELD GUIDE by CT DEP

the club grounds.
Follow the road behind the trap field to station 6 on the
sporting clay course and go up over the ridge to station 7 where you will

PARKING
The parking area will be off Dibble Edge Road. Proceed thru the first gate
to the inner gate and park in the area to the right just before the gate.

Reflections on our Bird Hunting by John E. DeSandre
Again, it's another pheasant season at the club. Through the last thirty
years, bird hunting at the club has greatly changed. I remember all the
farms the club had to hunt on and it was all free - but wait, we did have
farmers nite where we took the farmers out for a good dinner and dance.
Pheasants at that time were only $3.00. We knew we had to buy some new
land and keep our members hunting because all the free farmers' property
was being sold and now have new homes on them and other local hunting clubs
were folding up (no more hunting for them ). So we bought the orchard property
from Mr. Young. Let me tell you how the club struggled to pay it off with
the big loan and by selling bonds to our club members who stepped up to
the plate to get this deal done. Now, the orchard has become the best
hunting property. I want to say from me and my dogs, "Thank You Wallingford
Rod and Gun Club board and club members." You are keeping this old hunter
happy for another hunting season - KEEP UP THE GOOOD WORK!!!!!

Goose/Duck Hunting
We don't stock them, but they abound! Our fields allow members to hunt both ducks and geese! We follow the same seasons the State of Connecticut does for Area H. See your local Waterfowl Guide for Season and Bag Limits
